Lead Systems Analyst
Application Procedure:
Job Duties
The Lead Systems Analyst - (Institutional Research) is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data systems that support institutional research, reporting, and data visualization at the Alamo Colleges District (ACD). This role emphasizes backend data architecture, including data modeling, ETL development, and data governance.
Data Infrastructure & Collaboration:
Design and implement scalable data models, warehouse tables, and ETL processes. Partner with reporting and data visualization teams, project leads, IT, and business units to translate requirements into efficient data structures that support analytics and decision-making.
Data Engineering & Management:
Develop and maintain ETL pipelines integrating multiple source systems, including Ellucian BANNER, Texas Workforce Commission, and the department's internal database. Write and optimize code (e.g., SQL, SAS) to ensure curated, analysis-ready datasets for reporting and visualization.
Data Governance & Quality:
Define and enforce data standards, documentation, and lineage. Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and usability for downstream reporting and analytics.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Banner database structures, Institutional Research best practices, and experience translating business needs into technical requirements. They communicate clearly, collaborate effectively, and manage multiple complex projects with minimal supervision while supporting and training non-technical users.
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or a combination of experience, education and training that equates to
the required degree.
• Six years of experience providing technical support for research or marketing analysis
programs.
• Experience providing technical support for higher education institutional research.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Master's degree.
• Degree in statistics, math, computer science, information systems, business
administration or a related field.
• Five years of experience using and supporting Base SAS and SAS Macros or SPSS.
• Experience with problem solving, analysis, and documentation of Banner functionality.
• Experience with assessing and documenting client requirements.
• Experience with Luminis, ODS, SQL, SAS Business Intelligence, and Banner products.
• Experience conducting organizational studies and end-user training.
