Job Duties

Key Responsibilities

The Education Assessment and Accreditation Specialist provides leadership and coordination for assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Educator Preparation Program (EPP). Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead assessment and accreditation activities to ensure compliance and continuous program improvement.

  • Coordinate accreditation reporting, self-studies, site visits, annual reports, and program review activities.

  • Develop, manage, and improve assessment systems, data collection processes, and reporting tools to support evidence-based decision making and continuous program improvement.

  • Analyze assessment data and collaborate with faculty, program coordinators, department chairs, and school leadership to develop and monitor program improvement plans.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with accrediting agencies, including AAQEP, CCTC, the CSU Chancellor's Office, and other external partners.

  • Oversee accreditation timelines, data management systems, and required state and federal reporting (e.g., Title II, FAST, ADS).

  • Coordinate institutional assessment initiatives, accreditation communications, and the School's accreditation website while providing regular updates to school leadership.

  • Facilitate collaboration across educator preparation programs by coordinating assessment meetings, data summits, professional development, and continuous improvement efforts.

Job Qualifications

Preferred Education and Experience: 
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in a related field.
• Prior experience with assessment and accreditation activities in a higher education setting.
• Working knowledge of credentialing process in compliance with California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) standards.
• Working knowledge of credentialing process in compliance with Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP) standards.
Knowledge of:

• Regional and programmatic accreditation standards and processes.
• Higher education policies, procedures, and regulations related to assessment, accreditation, and quality assurance.
• Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to derive meaningful insights and inform evidence-based decision making.
• Educational research methodologies and the ability to apply research findings to enhance educational programs.
• Thorough knowledge of office equipment and systems with the ability to use a broad range of technology systems
and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps).

Skills/Abilities to:
• Skills to guide assessment and accreditation initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex information to diverse
stakeholders, including faculty, administrators, and accrediting bodies.
• Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, and administrators to facilitate successful assessment and accreditation
processes.
• Effective project management skills to plan, coordinate, and execute assessment and accreditation activities within
established timelines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges related to accreditation compliance and
educational quality.
• Ability to provide training and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff related to assessment and
accreditation processes.
• Troubleshoot a wide variety of problems and provide senior level administrative support, coordinating functions to
ensure customer service is provided in a prompt, friendly and efficient manner.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from
various cultural backgrounds.
• Interpret and apply a wide variety of complex policies and procedures independently and use judgment and discretion
to act when precedents or specific guidelines may not exist.
• Demonstrated ability to use considerable judgment and discretion including dealing appropriately with confidential
information and exercising good judgment on sensitive matters.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple
assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
