Job Duties
You have demonstrated experience building and maintaining solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform suite, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps. You know how to turn data, systems, and operational needs into reliable tools that support decision-making, improve efficiency, and are practical for end users.
You have demonstrated expertise in Power BI, including report development, dashboard design, semantic modeling, DAX, and creating reporting structures that are accurate, secure, scalable, and easy to understand. You bring strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to translate business questions into practical technical work.
As the Power Platform Developer, you will help manage and enhance ACE’s Power BI environment, develop new reporting solutions, support data integrations, and build resources that improve operations across the institution.
In this role you will wear different hats, but your skills will be especially essential in the following areas:
- Manages and enhances ACE’s Power BI environment, including workspaces, permissions, data refreshes, gateways, report access, and performance optimization.
- Designs, develops, and maintains Power BI reports and dashboards to support institutional reporting, academic analytics, and operational decision-making.
- Develops and enhances data models, semantic models, datasets, and reporting structures used in Power BI and other reporting tools.
- Integrates data across systems (e.g., SIS, LMS, CRM, Azure data platforms) using Power Platform connectors, APIs, and dataflows.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify business needs, and translate those needs into effective technical solutions.
- Ensures adherence to data governance, data quality, privacy, and security best practices across reports, dashboards, workflows, and applications.
- Monitors, troubleshoots, and optimizes Power Platform solutions, including data refreshes, report performance, workflow failures, and integration issues.
- Creates and maintains documentation for reports, datasets, workflows, applications, integrations, and platform standards.
- Builds and maintains automated workflows using Power Automate to streamline business processes and reduce manual effort across departments.
- Develops and supports Power Apps to enable scalable, user-friendly business applications.
- Provides end-user support, training, and guidance for Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and related solutions.
- Collaborates with Institutional Analytics, IT, and business teams to ensure solutions align with institutional priorities and strategic goals.
- Assists with ongoing process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and stronger use of data.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience developing and supporting solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
- Demonstrated expertise in Power BI report development, dashboard design, data modeling, semantic models, DAX, Power Query, data visualization, and report validation.
- Experience building and maintaining scalable datasets, semantic models, reporting structures, and data solutions that support accurate and consistent reporting.
- Experience managing Power BI workspaces, user permissions, scheduled refreshes, deployment processes, data security, and report performance.
- Experience integrating data from multiple systems using SQL, APIs, dataflows, connectors, or related integration tools.
- Working knowledge of relational databases, dimensional modeling, and reporting data structures, with experience using platforms such as SQL Server, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable technologies.
- Experience developing workflow automation solutions, preferably using Power Automate.
- Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders to define requirements, clarify business needs, and translate operational questions into effective technical and reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, documentation, and quality-assurance skills, with particular attention to data accuracy, report validation, security, and usability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while supporting stakeholders across departments in a remote work environment.
- Experience working with enterprise systems such as student information systems, learning management systems, customer relationship management systems, enterprise resource planning systems, or student success platforms is preferred.
- Professional experience in higher education, institutional research, institutional analytics, academic operations, or a related environment is preferred.
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or other iterative development environments is preferred.
