PDP: Dimensions and Filters

This tutorial explains two essential features of the Postsecondary Data Partnership (PDP) dashboards: dimensions and filters. Participants will learn how dimensions allow users to disaggregate student data by key characteristics—such as age group, race/ethnicity, enrollment type, and more—to surface achievement and equity gaps. They will also explore how filters refine the dashboard focus to specific student populations for deeper insights. Combining dimensions and filters empowers institutions to conduct a comprehensive and nuanced analysis of student progress, momentum, and outcomes to drive data-informed decision-making and targeted interventions.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the purpose and functionality of dimensions and filters in the PDP dashboards.
  • Apply dimensions to segment student populations and identify gaps in outcomes.
  • Use filters to narrow analysis to specific student characteristics (e.g., high-performing first-generation students).
  • Combine dimensions and filters for highly targeted analysis of student success.
  • Interpret dashboard visualizations impacted by dimensions and filters.
