Foundations of IR: Bootcamp for Cross-Institutional Teams

The Foundations of IR Bootcamp is an intensive, hands-on experience designed to deepen participants’ understanding of IR’s role in fostering a data-informed decision-making culture. This immersive program goes beyond foundational knowledge, equipping participants with the critical skills necessary to drive effective institutional research practices and contribute meaningfully to institutional strategy.

Throughout the bootcamp, participants will explore key IR competencies, including research design, survey design, descriptive statistics, effective reporting and communication, and translating findings into actionable recommendations. The curriculum is structured to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical application, allowing participants to engage in real-world exercises and case studies that mirror the challenges faced by IR professionals.

A core focus of the bootcamp is understanding IR’s agency within an institution, ensuring that professionals not only collect and analyze data but also effectively communicate insights to influence decision-making. By the end of the bootcamp, participants will have a stronger grasp of how to interpret data, craft compelling narratives, and support institutional leadership in making informed, data-driven decisions.
