Abstract

What is salary equity? How can one show that it does or does not exists? What statistical techniques are appropriate for negotiation or litigation? Questions such as these periodically arise in the college or university setting, particularly with regard to the salaries of continuing academic faculty, which are often determined through loosely defined policies and procedures. When university administrators demand answers, institutional research personnel suddenly find themselves enmeshed in the nontrivial task of salary equity analysis.
