There are many options available to students today, making college transfers more common, but the state, system and federal policies in place have not evolved to provide better support. Policies are often structured to support a move from a community college to a four-year institution, but this is not always the case. Students who have been historically marginalized also face systematic barriers to completion. This article outlines principles to achieve change, as well as policy recommendations to reset transfer.
