2024 Federal Funding Bill Preserves Integrity of National Postsecondary Student Aid Study Data Collection
The 2024 federal funding bill released March 21, 2024, provides continuity and support for the integrity of national postsecondary student aid study data collection. The bill directs the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), housed at the U.S. Department of Education, to maintain the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS) at its current collection frequency of every four years. NPSAS offers insights into the intricacies of student aid distribution, patterns of enrollment, and the socioeconomic landscape of postsecondary education.
In December 2023, AIR was among nearly 50 organizations urging the Department of Education to reinstate the Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B), and preserve the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS) and the Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study (BPS).
