Data Analyst (Remote)

Job Duties

Supervised by the Executive Director of Data and Strategic Analytics, the Data Analyst supports a variety of department activities that promote a culture of evidence at Northeast Community College. Responsibilities include producing key dashboards and analyses for college-wide use, operational reporting for administrative and student services, academic departments, and other entities, in addition to research and reporting to support planning and institutional effectiveness.

The Data Analyst plays a key role in delivering actionable insights by managing, analyzing, and visualizing data to support strategic decision-making. The Data Analyst will have strong technical expertise and a solid understanding of student information system (SIS) and learning management system (LMS) data structures and reporting needs in a higher education setting. The analyst will support the integration and development of Power BI dashboards to enhance strategic decision-making and campus data literacy. Responsibilities include analyzing data from multiple sources, interpreting results, and developing data models, reports, and dashboards that deliver actionable insights for college initiatives.

This position works under general direction to execute complex technical and professional tasks across varied contexts, ensuring data integrity, reliability, and accessibility while contributing to process enhancements and organizational growth.

This is a remote position with limited travel.

Job Qualifications

Formal Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Experience

  • One or more years of experience in advanced analytics or predictive modeling in the higher education setting.
  • Three or more years of experience in data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization platforms.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other relevant programming languages.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Institution Description

Established by the Nebraska Legislature in 1973, Northeast Community College (Northeast) is a student-centered, open-access institution with instructional and service priorities that target individuals who have been underserved in other educational settings. This includes applied technology and occupational education; transfer education; foundational education (English Language Learning, high school equivalency, developmental education); public service, continuing education, and personal development training; community and economic development, workforce training; and work-based learning and applied research. Northeast serves a 20-county rural area in Northeast Nebraska with a population of approximately 155,000. The service area is nearly 200 miles in length and covers approximately 14,400 square miles. The main campus is located in Norfolk, Nebraska, and serves as a destination campus for the region. The college has three extended campuses (O’Neill, South Sioux City and West Point) and two regional offices (Ainsworth and Hartington) to serve the diverse needs of its constituents.
