Job Duties
- Data Reporting and Surveys
- Serve as the IPEDS Keyholder. Oversee the completion of IPEDS surveys, ensuring the accuracy of data submitted, and utilization of the IPEDS reporting tools to retrieve comparable data on other institutions for benchmarking purposes.
- Coordinate the timely and accurate completion of all other mandatory reporting, including requests from the Higher Learning Commission and Ohio Department of Higher Education, as well as requests related to institutional rankings and key drivers of enrollment.
- Provide leadership in planning, management and administration of major University-wide surveys (e.g., Common Data Set, NSSE).
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of information needed for campus constituencies for the timely completion of external accreditations (HLC, ODHE, AAQEP, CACREP, AACSB, CCNE, and ABET), and internal reporting (academic program reviews, assessment of student learning, strategic and operational planning).
- Assist prospective PIs in the grant proposal process through the identification and provision of data to support proposals.
- Assist the Assistant Vice President with responding to data requests and with data visualization efforts on campus.
- Data Governance and Stewardship
- Direct and maintain formal data governance program for the University, assembling and leading the Data Governance Committee, monitoring the institutional data request process, and coordinating the efforts of data stewards in maintaining and enhancing data integrity.
- Empowering the Community to Use and Understand Data
- Serve as a resource to the campus community in understanding internal and external data, definitions, and guidelines.
- Assist the Assistant Vice President with educating the campus constituents on the effective use and interpretation of institutional data.
- Participate in various divisional, or University committees and working groups as required.
- Data Analysis
- Assist in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of key performance indicators of institution-wide effectiveness.
- Apply high-level statistical methodologies to conduct sophisticated analyses with data gathered through surveys and other information sources in order to support University’s decision-making process.
- Conduct scholarly and applied research and studies that generate insightful information for the University, including utilizing national and regional databases, literature, and benchmarking.
- All other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Master’s degree in statistics, educational measurement, institutional research, or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the collection, management, analysis and presentation of data.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization and demonstrated time management and priority-setting skills.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey findings, broad trends, and to tell stories with data to a variety of audiences, including non-technical audiences, and positively influence senior leadership, deans, and faculty.
- Proficiency with descriptive and inferential statistics and research methodologies, and in the use of statistical tools (such as SPSS or R).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll’s mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world
