Job Duties
The Senior Analyst, Institutional Research and Effectiveness, is responsible for guiding activities and directing meaningful institutional effectiveness planning and implementation efforts to maintain quality programs and services throughout the College. The Senior Analyst monitors the effectiveness of academic programs and support services and supports the College's strategic planning process through data collection, analysis, benchmarking, and reporting. This position enables the College to achieve its success agenda for students, employees, and the service area through continuous improvement, leading to the attainment of program, department, and institutional outcomes that align with the College's mission and strategic priorities.
The Senior Analyst Institutional Research and Effectiveness reports directly to the Dean of Institutional Research and Effectiveness regarding the following duties and responsibilities.
- Establish and implement institutional data governance policies and procedures
- Assist the Dean of Research and Effectiveness with the strategic planning process and monitor progress toward established goals
- Perform statistical analysis and predictive modeling
- Utilize statistical software packages (R, SAS, Python, SPSS) to collect and analyze institutional data
- Document data processes and methodology within SQL and SAS
- Create canned reports for departmental self-service access
- Generate comprehensive reports for internal planning and decision-making
- Create and maintain interactive dashboards for data visualization
- Develop and update the College's Fact Book and ensure information is publicly available on an annual basis
- Present data findings in formats accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Facilitate data-driven decision making across institutional departments and units
- Respond to requests for data related to assessment and student success. Disseminate assessment findings to appropriate stakeholders to assist with institutional decision-making
- Support specialized accreditation reporting for professional programs
- Plan and implement the systematic review of academic and support service program reviews, including associated reporting, and share the results to support continuous improvement
- Perform predictive modeling and advanced statistical analysis
- Manage Common Data Set and other external survey responses
- Collaborate with key data personnel across the institution (Financial Aid, Student Affairs, IT)
- Assist faculty, staff, and administrators in establishing additional performance measures to assess effectiveness
- Maintain the institutional research and effectiveness website
- Maintain historical, retrievable records of processes, documents, and data
- Optimize data processes and reporting systems for efficiency
- Remain current with trends in the field of research, planning, and effectiveness
- As a part of the college's risk management tool, annual mandatory compliance training is required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required from a regionally accredited institution. Master's degree preferred.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of documented relevant experience working in institutional research or data analysis related position. Advanced degrees may substitute in part for experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and problem-solve independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Power BI, SharePoint, Excel, and OneDrive required.
- Willingness to adopt and utilize new technologies related to the data analyst field
- Proficiency with data analysis tools, such as SAS, SPSS, SQL Developer, or R, and Cognos or Argos.
- Work experience in a higher education setting preferred.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Skilled in responding to inquiries and presenting findings to various audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines consistently. Flexible and adaptable in responding to changing needs and requirements.
- Comfortable working with tight deadlines and managing the workload of a multi-faceted department.
- Skilled at interfacing effectively with students, employees, and the community, providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive relationships.
- Attention to detail and ability to make appropriate decisions with minimal supervision.
