Job Duties
This position is responsible for developing analyses and reports to assist with the measurement of student success metrics and evaluation of student success initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for designing and executing the analysis of research projects related to admissions, enrollment, program retention, student finances, university retention, and/or graduation. This responsibility includes but is not limited to defining dataset structures, identifying data storage and management options, identification and appending of supplemental data, generating frequency data and visualizations, administering surveys and other data collection tools, identifying and conducting statistical analyses, and discussing and disseminating results.
- Develops and maintains data visualizations to assist in the decision making process for academic leaders. This requires an understanding of potential questions or use cases to address the needs of various campus stakeholders such as academic deans, chairs, program directors, faculty, and advisors.
- Supports campus partners with the analysis of student success initiatives. This work includes fulfilling custom data requests and consulting with the stakeholder on selecting descriptive statistics, visualizations, or statistical techniques to identify meaningful patterns in student outcomes.
- Assists with the completion of ongoing data reports and presentations, including but not limited to tables for academic program reviews, Provost Departmental Dashboards, university performance indicators, National Student Clearinghouse, and other data requests as they relate to student success analytics.
- Supports the submission and analysis of national surveys on behalf of the university. Survey topics include student engagement, retention and graduation, graduate student experiences and program metrics.
- Conducts trainings and workshops to promote data literacy across campus. This includes assisting with the Power BI training series and small-group discussions with campus stakeholders about data, analytics, and higher education research.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a post higher education and experience equal to six years.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred.
- Preference for advanced degree in statistics, econometrics, or research sciences with high statistical engagement.
- Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and software tools such as Power BI.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data and insights clearly.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SQL is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
- Proven executive communication skills with the ability to discuss complex data and insights confidently with senior leaders.
