Job Duties

This position is responsible for developing data analyses and reports to assist with the dissemination of data analyses of Engineering student success initiatives. As an Institutional Research Data Partner, this position will have full advantage of Institutional Research resources, such as training, official reporting consultations, and expertise. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the design and execution of analysis relating to strategic priorities of the college, including but not limited to operational metrics and engineering school student success initiatives. Supports data democratization in the college through custom data requests and consulting with the stakeholder on selecting descriptive statistics, visualizations, or statistical techniques to identify meaningful patterns and trends in engineering student outcomes. Consults with Institutional Research (IR) as the College of Engineering subject matter expert to build and maintain trust in College of Engineering data. Conducts analyses in partnership with IR on College of Engineering university-wide collaborations, such as Engineering Advising and engineering specific undergraduate course offerings.
  • Develops and maintains dashboards to assist in the decision-making process for the College of Engineering. This requires an understanding of potential questions or use cases to address the needs of various college stakeholders, such as the dean, chairs, program directors, faculty, and advisors. Supports the accurate and timely submission of data files including but not limited to Quality Enhancement Reviews and the Institutional Effectiveness Portal. Conducts analysis related to College of Engineering student engagement.
  • Serves as the College of Engineering data governance liaison. Supports data governance work through supporting various university-wide and engineering-specific data governance-related projects and processes in the areas of data quality and data management.
  • Assists with the timely and accurate submission of external federal, state, and US News and World Report rankings surveys and other external reporting agencies in consultation with Institutional Research to ensure accurate data reporting standards are met.
  • Conducts trainings and workshops for faculty and staff to promote data literacy in the College of Engineering and across campus. This includes assisting with the Power BI training series and small-group discussions with campus stakeholders.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Education, or a closely related field and two years of practical work experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a post high school education and experience equal to six years)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Preference for advanced degree in statistics, econometrics, or research sciences with high statistical engagement.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and software tools such as Power BI.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data and insights clearly.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with SQL is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
  • Proven executive communication skills with the ability to discuss complex data and insights confidently with senior leaders.
