Recent NILOA Paper

In the recent NILOA paperTowards a Model for Assessment in an Information and Technology-rich 21st Century Learning Environment, by Johannes Cronjé, the author argues that the locus of learning has shifted from the learner to the rhizome. Shifting the emphasis from evaluating learners’ collection of knowledge to evaluating their connection to the system.

CSU & SAAL Present Applying & Leading Assessment in Student Affairs

Are you looking for assessment education, resources, or structured professional development? If so, Colorado State University and Student Affairs Assessment Leaders (SAAL) are presenting the third section of “Applying and Leading Assessment in Student Affairs," a free MOOC on assessment. The course starts 1/21/2019 and runs until 3/18/2019. Participants can engage with the course as much and as fast as they like during that time as it is self-paced. Participants will also have access to the course material well after it ends, so teams can reference information or download materials at a later date.  Learn more and register.

New LGBTQ+ IR Listserv

A new listserv is available for LGBTQ+ IR professionals at any institution, organization, or company: LGBT-IR. This group will form a space where members of the LGBTQ+ community of institutional researchers and associated professionals can network, share experiences, and discuss issues of higher education, particularly as they relate to students of a sexual orientation or gender identity/expression minority. Membership in the group is closed and private. Anyone wishing to join can search for LGBT-IR on Google Groups or send an email to kevin.mccarthy@sru.edu.
