AIR Joins PostsecData Coalition in Recommending Improvements to Proposed Admissions Data Collection

  • by AIR

The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) has joined the PostsecData coalition and other higher education organizations in signing a letter responding to the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed Admissions and Consumer Transparency Supplement (ACTS) data collection. The coalition’s letter outlines five recommendations aimed at strengthening the clarity, feasibility, and usefulness of the proposed reporting requirements.

The signatories emphasize the importance of collecting admissions-related data in ways that maintain data quality and reduce unnecessary burden on institutions. Their recommendations include improving clarity in definitions and documentation, ensuring consistency across related federal reporting systems, and refining proposed data elements to better reflect institutional processes. The coalition also encourages the Department to engage more deeply with institutions and data professionals to ensure the final requirements support transparency while remaining practical to implement.

By signing the letter, AIR joins a broad group of organizations committed to advancing effective, responsible, and actionable federal postsecondary data.
