Job Duties

Anderson University’s Office of Institutional Research invites applications for a 12-month, full-time, Director of Data Analysis and Reporting. The primary role of the Director of Data Analysis and Reporting is to prepare data for the University’s external reporting requirements and internal needs. In this role, the Director’s responsibilities may be organized under three categories: external reporting, data management and integrity, and institutional support.

Responsibilities include:

  • External Reporting
    • Perform and direct the data collection, analysis, and verification of responses to meet external reporting requirements for audiences such as Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), regional and professional accrediting agencies, the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (SCCHE), South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU), and various college guidebooks.
    • Conduct queries to pull institutional data from WorkDay and other database systems for reporting.
  • Data Management and Integrity
    • Use spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel or WorkDay workbooks to maintain, clean, manage, and analyze data.
    • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of regular and ad-hoc internal and external reports.
    • Design, develop, and maintain data management processes and structures to accomplish internal and external reporting.
    • Proactively collaborate with the Office of Information Technology (IT) and other administrative offices (such as Academic Affairs, Admission, Business and Finance, Human Resources, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Development) to identify and resolve issues concerning data integrity and accuracy.
  • Institutional Support
  • Analyze data in response to requests for data and information from stakeholders such as Anderson University Senior Leadership, College/School Deans, and Program Directors.
  • Collaborate with university offices that contribute to various research and reporting projects, including Academic Affairs, Admission, Business and Finance, Human Resources, IT, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Development.
    • Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to provide data in support of the university’s regional accreditation (SACSCOC).

Job Qualifications

A bachelors degree in data analytics, educational research, statistics, psychology, business, or a related field is required. A masters degree and previous work experience in institutional research in higher education is preferred. Experience with Workday and a working knowledge in data management tasks such as data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) is preferred. Proven proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, lookups, and other means of data organization and analysis), excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong attention to detail, and an emphasis on accuracy is essential
