Job dutiesUnder the general direction of the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, or senior research staff of the project, the Post-Doctoral Research Fellow performs a variety of work in support of a research project or scholarly activities. Utilizing sound research methodology, the incumbent conducts complex analyses of institutional data sets, surveys, and other large data sets, including development and execution of data queries to extract data from campus databases and external sources. The incumbent will: participate in external survey reporting processes; analyzes institutional data including student enrollment and faculty data; provides conceptualized interpretive analysis of quantitative/qualitative findings; develops analytical strategies for new data sets; provides work direction to student assistants on a project-by-project basis; and works independently on project design, data collection, database creation, analytical interpretation, and preparation of reports.
QualificationsCompletion of a terminal academic degree program (or all the requirements except the dissertation) from an accredited institution of higher education or the equivalent, in one of the social sciences, statistics, or another discipline with an emphasis on statistical analysis, research methodology, computer science, or information systems. Demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position. Experience in simultaneously working with an analyzing multiple large complex datasets and relational databases; have proven teamwork skills; and be accurate, detail oriented and take responsibility for the quality of work produced
