Job dutiesOffice of Institutional Research: Data Analyst to support the university’s planning and decision making by maintaining, cleaning, and analyzing institutional data. The data analyst will assist with data collection through institutional surveys and assessments, as well as internal and external reporting.

The data analyst will assist with data collection through institutional surveys and assessments, as well as internal and external reporting. Responsibilities include: Developing reports and datasets to support decision making and planning across the University; assisting with data collection and analysis of institutional surveys and assessments, such as the National Survey of Student Engagement and the First Destinations project; data collection methodologies may include administration of online surveys, in-person (paper) surveys, phone surveys, focus groups, online searches, and more; providing institutional data for college guidebooks, the Delaware Cost Study, and other similar external data requests; providing data for routine institutional research reporting, such as the Common Data Set and the Fact Book; assisting with data submission for IPEDS (federal) and HEI (state) reporting; designing and running queries to obtain data from Banner, the OBIEE data warehousing tool, and other data systems; assisting with the development and testing of new OBIEE subject areas and dashboards; working closely with other institutional offices to ensure the integrity of institutional data; completing ad hoc requests; performing other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequire: Bachelor’s in relevant field with heavy emphasis on quantitative analysis with two years’ experience in higher education, preferably in a role involving data analysis or Master’s degree in relevant field with heavy emphasis on quantitative analysis with one year of work experience in a role involving data analysis, preferably in higher education; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, or similar programs, including query design and use of pivot tables; proficient in SPSS, SAS, or other statistical package; ability to use queries to extract data from an integrated data system; basic understanding of student-related institutional data, e.g., enrollment, degrees awarded, graduation and retention rates, admissions; ability to present facts clearly, concisely and objectively; strong written or oral communication skills; ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects in a timely manner; commitment to data accuracy and consistency; ability to maintain confidentiality.
