Job dutiesFlorida Atlantic University's Office of Information Technology is seeking an Assistant Provost for Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis, at the Boca Raton Campus.
The Assistant Provost for Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis (IEA) will manage the development, enhancement and maintenance of information resource data to support decision-making, planning and reporting for the entire University community.
Design and conduct special studies and surveys. Prepare verbal and written presentations.
Develop and maintain an interactive reporting Web site providing information on University facts and statistics.
Respond to information requests from internal and external constituents. Complete surveys and reports for federal, state, and private agencies.
Prepare department profiles and workload analyses for academic program review. Support campus-wide assessment and accreditation efforts.
Assist campus constituents in using and interpreting institutional data.
Assist University executives, campus administrators and campus committees with research, planning and analysis of institutional and/or comparative data used to support and enhance evidence-based decision making and policy formation in areas such as strategic planning, resource allocation, enrollment management, fiscal management, institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment.
Assist in the creation and evaluation of key performance indicators of institution-wide effectiveness and state Board of Governors performance metrics.
Provide leadership and direction for the design, development and maintenance of a system of longitudinal databases to assist in planning.
Consult with the Office of Information Technology to design and implement data warehousing capability for key administrative and academic systems and in developing and maintaining database solutions and implementation of new information technologies in support of institutional research needs.
Serve as FAU's state-designated Data Administrator ensuring the accurate and timely submission of official state requests through the Board of Governors' data request system.
Research and maintain currency with local, state and national trends that affect the University's mission and goals and ensure compliance with the reporting requirements of applicable agencies.
Supervise the reporting of institutional data required by the U.S. Department of Education, The State of Florida Board of Governors, accrediting agencies or data requested by national, state, local agencies, or private sector firms, other educational institutions, and/or other external collectors of University data.
Design, develop and maintain an interactive reporting Web site to publish institutional data for the general public and for internal campus communities.
Develop methods for gathering, tracking, and maintaining information; facilitate institutional research activities in the management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of various data and information used internally in institutional planning and assessment, including those associated with student success, enrollment forecasting, and institutional effectiveness at all levels.
Oversee daily operations of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis, including the supervision of support staff in the collection and analyses of data while monitoring workloads to ensure service to the campus and external communities are provided in a professional, ethical, and timely manner.
Draft correspondence, presentations, position papers, high-level reports, and action memoranda for the Provost, other officers, and the Board of Governors.
Provide data/analytical support for program review, accreditation, prioritization, enrollment management.
Communicate routinely with University administration, faculty, and staff regarding the monitoring of performance indicators and progress on meeting strategic goal.
Provide academic departments with data for academic program review and resource monitoring.
Master's degree from an accredited institution with a focus in management information systems, social science, higher education, public administration, or a related field that includes statistical analysis and/or research methodology and five years of experience in increasing complexity in higher education, institutional research, program evaluation, campus planning, or a demonstrated record of comparable professional experience required.
Doctorate degree from an accredited institution and eight years of experience preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in managing large databases and using database management software to query and manipulate data. Experience with Banner or other higher education focused ERP is preferred.
Solid knowledge of statistics, research methods (survey research, focus groups), and computer-based reporting and Business Intelligence tools (e.g., SPSS, SAS, Microsoft Excel, Cognos, Webfocus, PowerBI, Tableau).
Demonstrated experience in ensuring integrity in analysis and reporting, including the ability to analyze complex datasets, identify and troubleshoot data integrity issues within the system, and clean extracted data.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally both orally and in writing, with evidence of success in explaining, presenting, and interpreting data, including producing written reports and making presentations to a variety of audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially as a member of cross-unit and multipurpose teams or committees made up of multiple constituents and to lead groups of colleagues as needed.
Ability to work effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, and administrators.
Demonstrated ability to supervise staff.
