Job dutiesPosition Summary:

This is the fifth of six levels in the Institutional Effectiveness series. Incumbents plan, develop, analyze, report and justify institutional and comparative data elements and outcomes including assessment, forecasting, and graphical analysis. Responsibilities may include planning, directing, completing, and reviewing long-term reports and studies; preparing projections related to curriculum, students, enrollment and budgeting; publishing research briefs; and supervising institutional research staff. This role reports to the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.

Typical Essential Duties

Directs preparation and accuracy of state and federal reporting and monitors relevant files for accuracy pursuant to state policy;
Maintains current data and statistics on various projects and operations;
Utilizes Business Intelligence tool and predictive software to help inform decision making and trains others in the use of these tools;
Maintains the Institutional Research and Effectiveness websites;
Oversees publication of the SPC Fact Book and Research Briefs;
Coordinates requests for research and data from agencies and committees outside of the college;
Coordinates review of proposals to conduct research within the college;
Develops manuals in-service documents and other planning/training materials related to unit plan, annual and long range planning cycles;
Acts as college representative to MISATFOR.

Design, implement, analyze and report projects dealing with institutional research and educational planning;
Proficiency with Excel, SAS, SPSS or other statistical software.

Analyzing research reports;
Coordinating research projects within the department;
Performing qualitative and quantitative research analysis;
Using research instruments;
Extracting and transforming data and information;
Performing mathematical and statistical calculations;
Using a computer and related software applications;
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Master’s degree in Higher Education, Educational Research, Educational Leadership, Mathematics or Statistics or in a related field to assinged area with courses in educational research, design, and statistics.


Four (4) years experience in educational and/or institutional research or in a position requiring statistical analysis. Experience in higher education institutional research preferred.

Salary range$60,000 - $80,000
