Job dutiesThe Integrated Planning & Effectiveness (IPE) department provides the highest quality information reporting and planning at TRU through unbiased analytical services to support decision making at TRU.

Working closely with the Executive Director, Integrated Planning & Effectiveness, the Associate Director oversees the planning, analysis, interpreting and reporting of internal and external academic and business information requirements, including institutional accountability, enrollment management, key performance indicators, integrated strategic planning, continuous quality improvement, student outcomes and market research.

Specific Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director, and working closely with IPE Managers, the Associate Director coordinates the activities of the staff in the office. IPE Managers have a dotted line reporting relationship to this position.
Working closely with functional team leaders, provides planning, decision support and assessment/evaluation for to inform planning activities and analysis.
Provide leadership to support the institution’s strategic planning and accountability processes, execute research methodology, conduct data analysis, and maintain compliance reporting for government
Provides critical support to the University’s ongoing planning processes by helping to establish the metrics that will measure the University’s progress and identify areas of improvement and opportunity.
Responsible for ensuring appropriate tools, systems and resources are in place, and ensures that the integrity, accuracy, consistency and appropriate/ethical use of institutional data is maintained.
Studies timely, key demographic and educational trends, which may affect TRU and interpret these trends for short-term and long-term institutional planning needs, including institutional scans and impact analyses.
Monitors, review, and report broad, national and industry trends in academia regarding collection, analysis, and reporting practices to keep current with evolving national practices.
Develops comprehensive data models for utilization in responding to inquiries from University administration and external agencies; reviews, interprets, and disseminates findings of research studies.
Ensures information and analyses are widely available and communicated to the broader TRU community.
Represents the Executive Director and the Integrated Planning & Effectiveness (IPE) department in interactions with numerous groups and individuals across campus and in external projects as needed.
Remains current in the field of planning, assessment, and organizational theory.
QualificationsMaster’s degree with an emphasis on planning, research and/or business management.
Minimum seven years of related professional work experience in planning, leadership, research, assessment and evaluation, training, and staff supervision.
Training and demonstrated expertise in current principles and procedures of higher education integrated planning and assessment required;
Proficient understanding of how one’s own area integrates with the enterprise to develop effective solutions across the university
Experience with planning, assessment and evaluation and organizational development, including experience in performing institutional scans and SWOT analyses, preferably in a higher education setting.
Conceptual and innovative thinking skills (i.e. identifying solutions) and analytical thought needed to develop solutions and measurement tools to resolve and document results across a variety of complex situations.
Excellent analytic, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills as well as consulting, relationship building and strategic thinking skills;
Ability to use judgment based on practice and precedence to select appropriate resources to implement solutions.
Knowledge of the post-secondary education sector, including policy and managerial issues.
Exceptional organization, communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Project management skills and the ability to train staff.
Strong interest in working in an action-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes initiative, problem-solving, rigor, and critical thinking.
Strong interpersonal skills coupled with effective problem solving, conceptual thinking, quantitative and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve desired goals
Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a complex team effort.
Salary range$80,000 - $100,000
