Institution descriptionHelp grow and sustain a culture of evidence for excellence in serving Clackamas Community College’s students and service district. Working collaboratively campus-wide, provide support in research, program evaluation and reporting activities.

This position will join a team of 3.5 employees, focusing to provide team facilitation, project management, and technical support to all phases of research projects including design, implementation, data management, analysis, reporting, and communications/utilization.

The Research Associate will maintain research that is highly integrated with the College’s strategic planning, accreditation, and program review processes.
Job dutiesSupport the institution's official federal, state, and grant data-related reporting and evaluation responsibilities. Provide data to support institutional and department planning, accreditation, and assessment requirements.

Works collaboratively with management, faculty, and staff across all College divisions to design and implement research, evaluation, and continuous improvement activities for student services, the instructional environment, and other areas of the college.

Provides team facilitation, project management, and technical support to all phases of research projects including design, implementation, data management, analysis, reporting, and communications/utilization.

Collaborate and facilitate meetings with college community to develop appropriate applied research questions.

Lead and conduct sound applied research and appropriate statistical analyses to answer these questions.

Support decision-making, planning, and evaluation related to the strategic plan, accreditation, student programs, student success initiatives, and instructional and student services environment.

Create and maintain small to large datasets including data-mining, cleaning, evaluating.

Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding.

Use technical and creative reporting and communication strategies to communicate research findings to the college community and others interested, orally and in writing and both formally and informally.

Serve on college-wide committees as a research expert and facilitate research-related committee work.

Manage related reports and research – organizing institutional knowledge.

Lead analysis and use of existing surveys and create new surveys by developing sampling methodology, conducting analyses, and presenting results using sound research principles.

Lead and conduct design and evaluation of pilot programs and new college-wide initiatives.

Complete other related work as assigned.

Participate in departmental and college wide meetings as necessary.

Develop and maintain cooperative working relationship with colleagues, College staff, supervisors, other organizations, and the public.
QualificationsAny equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be: Master's Degree in social sciences, math, statistics, research, or public administration AND three years' experience.

KNOWLEDGE: Advanced knowledge of data mining and management for small to large data sets, integrated database systems, networks, and microcomputer systems and software. Knowledge of statistics and data analysis, including correlational and inferential data. Knowledge of data manipulation techniques, including reshaping data, linking, and advanced querying of data. Knowledge of basic survey/inquiry development. Knowledge of education and enrollment processes, records management, and related reporting requirements. Knowledge of statistical software, database, data query, and visualization applications. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, grammar/spelling, and positive customer service. Knowledge of state and federal accountability and assessment policies. Knowledge of practices and guidelines pertaining to community colleges, general business operations, processes, and procedures.

SKILL: Strong project management and facilitation skills. Planning, program evaluation, and decisionmaking skills for education, human, and community impact. Strong technical writing skills to document project management and data procedures as well as communicate findings to range of audiences. Skill in the use of personal computers; office software programs including MS applications such as Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel; phone system; and standard use of office equipment.

ABILITIES: Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, staff, other agencies, and the general public; manage time effectively; read and interpret policies, regulations and laws as they relate to this job; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to provide customer service and support to individuals and groups with varying degrees of experience; maintain a high degree of discretion when dealing with sensitive/confidential information. Salary range$60,000 - $80,000
