Regional Attractions: New Mexico Tech is located in Socorro, in the scenic Rio Grande River Valley of central New Mexico, 75 miles south of Albuquerque with its many attractions, and 139 miles south of Santa Fe. Nearby mountains and desert canyons provide opportunities for excellent hiking, climbing, and mountain biking. The Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, located just south of Socorro along a major north-south flyway, offers some of the best birding in the USA.
Job dutiesThe data analyst works in the Office of Institutional Research to assist in in compliance reporting and research projects. Duties include: (1) Using Banner, Access, and Excel to compile and report institutional data required by state and federal regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies, and national survey organizations, including but not limited to IPEDs, PEP, NSSE, and HED DEAR files. (2) Compiling data for ad hoc HED/ legislative requests. (3) Completing data requests from faculty, administration, and student groups, which commonly include grant application data, enrollment management/retention data, and program assessment data. (4) Monitoring higher education developments at the state and national level. (5) Ensuring that the institution is compliant with existing and upcoming data reporting regulations. (6) Ensuring clean, reliable, standardized student data across departments.
QualificationsRequired: Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Business, Education, or related field; advanced computer skills, especially with databases and spreadsheets; experience with data gathering/analysis/reporting; ability to work independently; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to deliver accurate results under deadline.

Desired: Master’s degree, experience in higher education, Banner knowledge and experience, familiarity with higher education and government databases, familiarity with state and federal reporting requirements, ability to write database queries, familiarity with Argos.

Salary benefitsSalary Range: $40,00 - $45,760
