Assessment Specialist and Research Analyst

Job Duties

Under the general direction of the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment, the Assessment Specialist and Research Analyst provides support for institutional assessment, particularly in the areas of general education and program assessment. The position works closely with faculty and committees to enhance and organize assessment of student learning activities of the university. This position also supports core functions of OIRA: working with various datasets to complete federal, state, external agency reports, and ad hoc requests. This position also helps with the administration of institutional surveys, and analysis and dissemination of information to the university community through reports, dashboards, and other data visualizations.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in education research, social science, statistics, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two years experience in some combination of assessment, statistical analysis and program evaluation in higher education or other closely related field.
  • Experience using at least one statistical computing software package (SPSSSAS, R, SYSTAT, etc).
  • Experience with data cleaning, reporting, and analytics.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in assessment and institutional research in a university setting.
  • Experience with general education assessment and student learning outcomes.
  • Knowledge of survey research and data collection and reporting, including experience with survey software such as Qualtrics or Survey Monkey.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access, Tableau or Microsoft Power BI.
  • Proficiency with SPSS syntax.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using relational databases.
