Institutional Research Database Administrator
Application Procedure:
Candidate screening will begin in May with the search committee with finalists interviewing with the Institutional Research team.
Job Duties
- Serve as a database administrator for the IR Microsoft SQL server and Power BI gateway.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes that organize and condition data within the SQL server for reporting.
- Develop and maintain MS SSMS jobs that support recurring reporting.
- Design and maintain reporting tools and online dashboards.
- Ensures appropriate access to data as well as the security of the SQL server.
- Support data audits and other efforts to ensure data integrity.
- Document processes for data extraction, transformation, and organization.
- Maintains and enhances multiple databases for reporting, including, but not limited to, admissions, enrollment, yield, retention, courses, grades, evaluations of courses, financial aid, tuition revenue projections, degrees, housing, and faculty.
- Conduct summary analyses and generate reports to support decision-making.
- Responsible for the university-wide course evaluation system, including extractions, user support, maintenance, security, and troubleshooting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Two (2) years of post-secondary education.
- Two (2) years of experience managing large-scale databases, including organizing data through ETL processes to support organizational reporting, supported by postsecondary education or training beyond a high school diploma.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proficiency in a programming language such as Microsoft SQL.
- Experience using a reporting tool (e.g., Power BI, Crystal Reports) to develop and share reports with end users.
- Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server environments, including organizing data to support institutional reporting needs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI for building and sharing data visualizations and reports.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
