Job dutiesConditions of Employment:

The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate is required to complete a background check prior to assuming this position.

Position Information:

This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position

Special Working Conditions: This position may require the incumbent to work outside of regular business hours during project implementation and testing. The incumbent is required to maintain contact with their campus outside of their normal working hours on a regular basis. Remote contact shall include telephone, cell phone, wireless data access device, remote monitoring of any hardware or software device, and/or electronic mail notification regarding the status of a campus system or project.

Department: Service and Financial Management

The Division of Information Technology is responsible for providing leadership and support in information technology for the entire CSU Dominguez Hills community. The Division promotes IT solutions that improve the teaching, learning, research, and administrative environment of the University. The Vice President / CIO provides overall management of the Division of IT. The Division of Information Technology is comprised of eight operational units: Service & Financial Mgmt, User Services, Academic Technology, Infrastructure & Production Services, Information Security, Development & Digital Convergence, Innovation Incubator, and Operational Effectiveness, Planning, & Analytics.

Major Job Duties:
Under the direct supervision of Assistant Vice President of Service and Financial Management, the incumbent will demonstrate a basic understanding of the standard principles and terminology associated with technical project coordination, address common problems of limited scope, and demonstrate work-ready communication skills. Responsibilities include assisting management with the full scope of technical projects including feasibility studies; project design and planning; ongoing resource, materials, time management and implementation. Input information to report project's tangible measurable outcomes, specified time-lines and milestones, and scopes that may involve interdepartmental and/or multidisciplinary coordination. Incumbent must be able to provide technical support to internal/external departments to enhance the use and access of technology and information systems through the implementation process of the project.
- Basic knowledge of project management theories and best practices.
- General knowledge of information technology systems and/or applications, including campus-wide systems and multimedia environments, access procedures, networks, and/or databases.
- Knowledge of data administration principles and techniques.
- Knowledge of network administration.
- Knowledge of training theory and practices demonstrated by an ability to develop and deliver technical training and user documentation.
- Knowledge of statistical and/or research databases.

- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills in working with users to interpret needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Proficiency using standard software packages.

- Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate support.
- Ability to integrate multiple applications and/or systems.
- Ability to analyze data requirements and research data availability and access methods.
- Ability to coordinate and implement data exchanges and conversions.

Experience and Education:

Required Education: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study.

Preferred Education: Project management coursework, training, or certification.

Required Experience: As an entry level position, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems, application program packages, and project management theories and best practices is a prerequisite; along with a working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems.

Preferred Experience: Experience working in an academic environment; project management experience; and strong customer service orientation.
Salary rangeDependent on qualifications and experience
Salary benefitsSalary Range: The salary range for this classification is: $3,470 - $5,994 monthly.
