Data Governance Program Manager

Job Duties

Activities included in the scope of this position include:

  • Developing, documenting, communicating, and educating the BU community on data governance processes, guidelines, and established standards. 
  • Oversee the Data Governance Working Group, coordinating project timelines and outcomes, program communications, and membership updates. 
  • Assist units in implementing data governance projects and developing and accessing tools and data systems. 
  • Administer the university's central repository of data sources, standard definitions, and other metadata. 
  • Review and recommend potential data governance related tools and systems. 
  • Provide on-going assessment of program outcomes and progress, making recommendations for process and resource improvements.

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including:
    • Ability to interpret and analyze technical documentation and information.
    • Experience in developing web-based, written, and presentation resources for a broad audience of senior leaders, academic and administrative partners, and resource users.
    • Able to communicate technical ideas and concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with data resources including:
    • Knowledge of relational database concepts and tools.
    • Familiarity with data warehouse concepts.
    • IT Service Management concepts and frameworks. 
  • Experience with data governance and reporting tools including Informatica Axon and EDC, Microstrategy, Power BI, Tableau, and BeX. 
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the field of institutional research, admissions, financial aid, and other higher education areas preferred but not required.
