Job Duties
Job Description
Under guidance from the Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness and Initiatives, the Director of Institutional Research (IR) at Idaho State University (ISU) leads a team of data scientist(s) and data analyst(s) with the overarching purpose to support a campus-wide data-informed decision-making culture. They provide coordination, support and mentorship in successful completion of internal and external reporting, research and analysis, business intelligence and data management.
Proactively developing and maintaining good relationships with stakeholders across the organization is essential for the Director of Institutional Research. They need to deliver quality solutions that meet their stakeholders' expectations. This requires working independently, collaborating, and engaging within the college's IR team with administrators, faculty, and staff from across the college.
The Director should be a curious, critical thinker with a desire to empower their team to add value to the institution. A successful director can balance a high-level perspective of business problems with the technical details needed to provide solutions. They demonstrate some degree of “business sense,” with the ability to think in terms of the administrators they are assisting while at the same time maintaining a more in-depth understanding of the data and related technical components needed to address the problem. The Director should be an enthusiastic advocate for their team members to do the same.
There may be occasional evening or weekend work to meet reporting deadlines.
This position may be eligible for remote work, however, the successful candidate DOES need to be able to report to a predetermined ISU campus location if needed.
