Job Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Manages the design, administration, analysis, and reporting of internal and external surveys for various constituencies at the Graduate Center. 

- Provides support and guidance to GC programs and offices in survey design, administration, and analyses. 

- Collaborates with the Director to manage internal data warehouse and document libraries, coordinating or implementing regular updates and ensuring data quality and completeness.

- Works closely with the Director to consistently update existing data dashboards and develop new ones. 

- Translates data into actionable information by linking data and analytic results with the decision-making processes at various levels and makes recommendations based on data. 

-  Creates reports, presentations, and newsletters to disseminate research findings to diverse audiences within the Graduate Center community. 

- Collects data for measures of progress towards the goals of the Graduate Center's Strategic Plan, the annual Performance Monitoring Project, and student learning outcome assessment. 

- Responsible for accurate and timely data submission to external agencies. 

- Provides coordination, support and guidance to Graduate Center programs and offices in collecting, managing, and reporting institutional data. 

- Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this job classification 

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required. 

A preferred candidate should have: 

- Master’s degree in fields with course work in research methodology, survey research methods, data analysis and visualization, or statistical modeling, with four years of related work experience. 

- Ph.D. degree in a related field such as education, psychology, economics, business, and statistics is preferred. 

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a working knowledge of data management and data analysis. 

- Proficient in survey design and administration, with substantial working experience with Qualtrics. 

- Effective communication skills, including the ability to communicate information in verbal, written and graphical form to a variety of audiences. 

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and timelines. 

- Experience in data visualization (Tableau, Excel). 

- A strong background in statistical analysis and database management systems, and experience working with SQL, SAS/SPSS or R. 

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be offered for this position.  

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW 

- Manages College institutional research programs and studies related to the College's mission.

- Develops relevant, timely and accurate institutional information to administrators, the college community, the external community, and external agencies.

- Defines and implements research studies, designing and conducting data analyses and analyzing and interpreting results.

- Researches, develops and recommends policy analyses relevant to anticipated institutional planning, policy, and decision-making needs.

- Participates in college-wide strategic planning, institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment tasks.

- Respond to data, table and report requests from college constituencies.

- Manage surveys, questionnaires and other data-gathering instruments administered by the Office.

- Manages a library of institutional planning and research documents.

- May consult with faculty and students in the design of databases for research projects

- Performs related duties as assigned.

POSITION DETAILS 

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, within the Provost's Office of the Graduate Center (GC) of The City University of New York (CUNY), provides leadership in the areas of institutional research, institutional assessment, data governance and analytics, information sharing and communication, and regional accreditation. The Institutional Research Manager will report to the Director for Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
