Virginia Military Institute (VMI) is accepting applications for Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness. The Associate Director reports to the Director for the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and is primarily responsible for institution-wide effectiveness and assessment.
Coordinate institution-wide systems of academic and service department institutional effectiveness plans; provide orientation, training, and support to individual departments in designing institutional effectiveness processes to support both regional and program-specific accreditation.
Supervise the Institute’s online course evaluation system.
Supervise the technical aspects of assessment, including design of databases, data collection, and analysis of data related to assessment plans.
Coordinate the administration of various standardize national assessment instruments and ensure that reports and results are distributed institution wide.
Coordinate workshops, seminars, and other activities for faculty and staff on assessment and institutional effectiveness.
Use quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze institution-wide assessment instruments in relation to the learning outcomes employed in various educational contexts at the Institute.
Prepare written reports and give oral presentations for VMI offices or committees and for external agencies on the findings from assessment activities.
Develop, coordinate, and administer institution-wide questionnaires/surveys using traditional methods as well as electronic survey software.
Other duties as assigned.
· A master’s degree in a relevant discipline
· Supervisory or leadership experience in an academic setting
· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
· Strong organizational skills
· Strong analytical skills
· Project management skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications
A Doctorate in a relevant discipline
· Knowledge in current and best practices in assessment and survey research
· Understanding of accrediting processes in higher education.
· Experience in higher education leadership, institutional research, institutional planning and effectiveness, program evaluation, campus planning, or a demonstrated record of comparable professional experience.
