The District Director of Data Strategy & Institutional Research is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of institutional research activities to support data-informed decision-making, strategic planning, and institutional research initiatives. This position plays a key role in data governance and compliance, ensuring alignment with SB 475 (Texas data security law) in collaboration with the CIO and Chief Technology Systems/Data Security Officer. The position directs a broad institutional research program, including student outcomes research, strategic planning analytics, needs assessments, cost-benefit analysis, policy analysis, and survey research. This position collaborates with the District Reporting Officer for THECB reporting and other state and federal reporting.  Additionally, this position assists the SACSCOC Liaison with accreditation requirements and institutional effectiveness initiatives.

Education:
Required: 
-      Bachelor’s degree and additional Certificates and Professional Trainings in Data Analysis, Analytics, etc.…
-      or
-      Education and training equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree with additional Certificates and Professional Trainings in Data Analysis, Analytics, etc.…
Preferred: 
-      Master’s Degree preferred. 
Experience:
Required:
-      10 years in institutional research, data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field within higher education preferred.
-      Proficiency in SQL or other query languages
-      Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Zogotech, Tableau, or similar).
-      Familiarity with Student Information Systems (Thesis, Ellucian, Jenzabar, etc.) and how data is structured across multiple systems.
Preferred:
-      Basic proficiency in data analytics languages such as R or Python.
-      Experience working with state reporting requirements (THECB, IPEDS, HB 8 funding model, TACC).
-      Knowledge of accreditation processes (SACSCOC or other regional accrediting bodies).
-      Experience managing data governance and compliance processes (SB 475, FERPA, data security best practices) 
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Supervisory and training skills; ability to work with and influence individuals with whom there is no direct reporting relationship; proficiency managing complex, long-term projects while maintaining sensitivity to demands of the academic calendar; ability to communicate knowledge orally, in writing, inter-personally, and graphically; experience using a variety of computer software and web-based information systems; and ability to maintain poise and self-assurance under pressure.
