Job dutiesInstitutional Research is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Data Scientist. This professional position requires a combination of substantial knowledge of higher education and skills in the acquisition and/or analytics of data for decision support and student success. Work involves participation in educational research related to the operation of the institution, including periodic studies on students, faculty, staff, curriculum, and/or organizational processes. The major responsibilities of this position are:

- Perform statistical analysis and quantitative studies, and prepare summary reports for campus decision makers and information consumers;
- Identify and design complex analytical studies and projects pertinent to all aspects of the operation of the institution and student success;
- Use data visualization techniques to effectively communicate analytical results and support business decisions
- Perform related work as required
Qualifications- Master’s degree in Data Science, Higher Education, Educational Research, Statistics, Behavioral Sciences required
- Two years of experience performing data analysis (one to three years IR experience preferred);
- Knowledge of advanced research methods, statistical techniques, and quantitative methods; and use of statistical packages such
as SAS, R, or Stata; Proficiency in SQL and data management techniques;
- Ability to organize research results and conclusions for effective presentation in a wide variety of formats and situations;
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and data visualization (Tableau, MS Power BI, Excel, R or SAS);
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively;
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines as part of a fast-paced problem solving team, working with minimum supervision;
- Knowledge of issues and current trends in higher education;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty and administrators;
