The Director, Academic Effectiveness provides leadership over institutional accreditation efforts and processes, placing an emphasis on demonstrating the university’s commitment to student learning and success, and institutional effectiveness and integrity. The director facilitates the university’s academic program review process and oversees the Academic Review Committee. Student learning and success are tracked through curricular and co-curricular experiences; the director meets with University Assessment Committee members routinely to oversee curricular and co-curricular unit assessment efforts and works with the Core Curriculum Assessment Leadership Representative on assessment planning and tracking for accreditation. Institutional effectiveness and integrity are viewed through the lens of strategic and integrated planning; therefore, the director supports the analytical side of USD’s strategic planning efforts. The director maintains the university’s institutional effectiveness respective webpages, supports large-scale survey administration, and serves as the university administrator for the university’s assessment management system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Accreditation Liaison Officer:
• Serve as the primary institutional representative; including institutional report creation, organization, and submission (annual reports, main accreditation, and all substantive-change)
• Work on WSCUC review teams and committees.

Academic Program Review:
• Facilitate the university’s academic program review process of all curricular programs, including those with external accrediting agencies and online and oversee the Academic Review Committee (ARC).
• Work to integrate strategic planning operational resource management and post-graduation student success into the academic program review process.

General Assessment Responsibilities:
• Organize University Assessment Committee (UAC) agendas and meetings.
• Meet with UAC members routinely to oversee curricular and co-curricular unit assessment efforts.
• Work with the Core Curriculum Assessment Leadership Representative on assessment planning and tracking for accreditation.

Strategic Planning and Research:
• Work with Strategic Planning Committee for developing and tracking goals and initiatives.
Institutional Research and Effectiveness Website:
• Oversee and update academic program review, accreditation, and student outcomes information on the Institutional Research and Effectiveness website.

Organization and Collaboration:
• Support large-scale survey administration and research as appropriate.
• Oversee Nuventive AMS support and use for program assessment, curricular and co-curricular program review, and strategic planning.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• A combination of 5 years of administrative and teaching experience at an accredited institution of higher education.
• Demonstrated experience in working with accrediting bodies and writing accreditation reports (e.g. self-studies, interim reports).
• Demonstrated experience in the areas of academic program review, outcomes assessment, statistical analysis, and qualitative and quantitative research.
• Demonstrated experience with assessment management systems (e.g. Nuventive) and statistical software (e.g. SPSS).
• Demonstrated leadership with strong collaborative interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree preferred.

Performance Expectations - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of regional accreditation expectations, standards, and timelines.
• Ability to chair multiple committees, set agendas, track minutes, and monitor committee’s progress.
• Participate and present at professional meetings held in various locations within and out-of-state.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
• Exceptional analytical skills and experience in use of statistical software.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Project tracking and management skills
