Changes to IR Office Reporting Relationships

  • by eAIR

From the 2018 AIR National Survey of IR Offices, we learned that most IR offices in U.S. postsecondary institutions report to either the President/Chief Executive Officer or the Provost/Chief Academic Officer; the remaining IR offices report to units such as an independent IR/IE/Planning division, Finance, or IT.

But when we compare those results to 2015, we find some changes. We compared the reporting relationships among the 376 institutions that responded to the 2015 and 2018 AIR National Surveys and found that fewer IR offices are reporting to the Provost/CAO in 2018 compared to 2015, while more IR offices are reporting to the President/CEO.
