Institution descriptionJohn Carroll is a private, coeducational, Jesuit Catholic university providing programs of study in the liberal arts, sciences, and business at the undergraduate level and in selected areas at the master’s level.

Academically, the University consists of the College of Arts and Sciences and the John M. and Mary Jo Boler School of Business, which both include graduate programs. John Carroll operates on a semester calendar, with two 15-week semesters and three summer sessions.
Job duties• Coordinate the timely and accurate completion of all mandatory state and federal reporting including Higher Learning Commission, Ohio Board of Higher Education, and accountability and rankings related to external survey needs.
• Provide leadership in planning, management and administration of major University-wide surveys (e.g., IPEDS, Common Data Set, USNWR, NSSE, CIRP, Delaware Study, Great Colleges to Work For).
• Serve as the IPEDS Keyholder. Oversee the completion of IPEDS surveys, ensuring the accuracy of data submitted, and utilization of the IPEDS reporting tools to retrieve comparable data on other institutions for benchmarking purposes.
• Assist in the preparation and distribution of information needed for campus constituencies for the timely completion of external accreditations (HLC, OBHE, CAPE, CACREP, and AACSB), and internal reporting (academic program reviews, assessment of student learning, strategic and operational planning).
• Apply high-level statistical methodologies to conduct sophisticated analyses with data gathered through surveys and other information sources in order to support University’s decision-making process.
• Conduct scholarly and applied research and studies that generate insightful information for the University, including utilizing national and regional database, literature, and benchmarking.
• Work closely with various campus units to define critical information needs to support data integrity by performing necessary verification processes of data sources to ensure consistent and valid information.
• Manage relationships with various end users to understand campus information reporting needs to enhance the data-informed decision-making culture of the university.
• Assist in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of key performance indicators of institution-wide effectiveness.
• Assists the grant proposal process through the identification and provision of supporting data.
• Assist the Associate Provost with data visualization efforts on campus; educating the campus constituents on the effective use and interpretation of institutional data.
• Participate in various divisional, or University committees and working groups as required.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey findings, broad trends, and to tell stories with data to a variety of audiences, including non-technical audiences, and positively influence senior leadership, deans, and faculty.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team player across organizational lines and with a range of individual types and backgrounds.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
• Demonstrated time management and priority-setting skills.
• Sound judgment and organizational awareness.
Qualifications• Master’s degree in statistics, educational measurement, institutional research, or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the collection, management, analysis and presentation of data.
• Proficiency with descriptive and inferential statistics and research methodologies, and in the use of statistical tools such as SPSS and R.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with institutional and specialty accreditation.
• Facility in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.
• Background in data visualization and visual analytics.
• Tableau proficiency or certification (preferred).
• Specific experience with Ellucian Banner Information System and Oracle databases (preferred).
